Future use of the former Wesleyan Church

Located at 205 Main Road Chewton, the Wesleyan Church was built in the 1850s and had been vacant since 2010. Council originally resolved to sell the building in 2017, but strong community advocacy led Councillors to reverse that decision in 2021 and commit to restoring the site. Restoration works began in November 2022 and were completed in 2025.

The church sits beside a small community hall, a large green space and dedicated parking, creating exciting possibilities for the area to become a community precinct.

In August 2025, Council asked the community to share ideas about how the restored church could be used into the future.
