Councillors have their say

Councillors attended a hybrid and interactive workshop in mid-February to have their say on how we might improve communications and engagement practices at Mount Alexander Shire.

It was a valuable session that explored Councillor and community needs.

We spent time unpacking a number of key and high-priority barriers to communication and engagement including:

  • Confusion – Let's provide clearer communications with consistent messaging that cuts through the noise
  • Sameness – We ask for a lot of feedback and sometimes it feels like we might be overlapping in what we ask for.
  • Openness – Let's be clearer on the scope of what the community can and can’t influence, and get better at closing the loop (what you told us and how it influenced our decision-making)
  • Language – Let's keep it simple when we talk about what we do.
