Proposal to sell land at Wesley Hill Business Park
Council is considering selling some of the remaining lots at the Wesley Hill Business Park (also known as the Wesley Hill Industrial Estate) on Fitzgeralds Close in Castlemaine.
Council bought this land in the early 2000s to develop and sell to support local industry and jobs. In 2010, Stage 2 was completed, creating 14 lots in total. So far, seven lots have been sold and seven are still owned by Council.
Check the map below to see the lots. There is interest from potential buyers in Lot 13, Lot 14 and possibly Lot 11, which would be sold by private treaty.
As part of the Local Government Act 2020, before any sale Council will:
- Get an independent valuation to make sure the price is fair
- Let the community know about the proposal to sell public land
- Provide the opportunity for community members to make submissions or object to the proposal.
Money from the sale of Council property will be used to support important community priorities as set out in Council’s long-term financial plan, annual budget, and other approved plans or strategies. The funds will be used as required by law, but not for day-to-day or ongoing operating costs.
