Reducing the risk of bushfire through roadside management
We are working to keep roadsides safer during bushfire season, especially in high-risk townships including Chewton, Fryerstown, Elphinstone, Taradale and Barkers Creek.
After assessing multiple roadsides in these areas and across the shire we developed a DRAFT Roadside Fuel and Bushfire Risk Report.
We recently asked for your input to validate or question the existing conditions identified, consider our proposed treatments and to provide comments on any emergency management, environmental and conservation factors that should be considered.
Consultation has now closed - we will let you know the outcomes shortly.
Drop-in sessions NOW CLOSED
Across June and July we ran three drop-in sessions in Harcourt, Chewton and Taradale in partnership with the Country Fire Authority (CFA) We'll let you know what we heard and our next steps soon.
