A nature strip is defined as an area of public land located:

  • between the pedestrian footpath and the back of the street kerb/culvert drain; or
  • where there is no formed footpath, between the back of the street kerb/ culvert drain and 1.5 metres from the property boundary.

Nature strips are the shared responsibility of:

  • Residents and property owner/manager
  • Utility authorities
  • Mount Alexander Shire Council
