A creative journey
Castlemaine based artist Laura Woodward has been commissioned by Council to create a public artwork in the Castlemaine Botanical Gardens celebrating the contributions of women to establishing the cultural life of the region.
Titled Wildflowers, the permanent, public art installation will tell the story of the seven women who founded Castlemaine Art Museum (CAM) and who contributed widely to the cultural and civic life of the town.
A series of creative engagement activities with the community informed the final artwork and exact location for installation.
