A group of smiling people on the steps of the new all-gender pavilion at Bill Woodfull Rec Reservce in Maldon

In early December Councillor Rosalie Hastwell came together with Maree Edwards, State Member for Bendigo West and the Maldon community to officially open the new all-gender netball and tennis pavilion at the historic Bill Woodfull Recreation Reserve.

We would like to thank the Maldon Football Netball Club, the Bill Woodfull Recreation Reserve Community Asset Committee, the Maldon Tennis Club and Maldon residents for working with us during the design and construction phase.

The new space provides much-needed gender-neutral netball and tennis change facilities for home and visiting clubs.

The new facilities include two change rooms, two umpire rooms, an accessible toilet, an administration office, first aid and storage spaces, accessible paths, ramped netball court connections and minor carparking works.

Funding was jointly provided from Sport and Recreation Victoria’s 2022 Local Sports Infrastructure Fund, Female Friendly Facilities stream, and Council.

Finishing the pavilion is a great achievement and compliments other recent projects at the Reserve including:

  • New Oval lighting
  • New Netball Court lighting
  • Upgrades to the tennis court lighting
  • New Players Shelters
  • New Oval Perimeter Fencing

This is another fantastic example of how Council and the community can work together to bring positive change to our shire, and to the lives of the people who live here.
