The team continues to assist flood-impacted communities predominantly from Campbells Creek, Castlemaine, Newstead and Baringhup with their recovery from the severe weather event in October 2022.

Meetings with flood-impacted residents and community groups and stakeholder interest groups.
Consulting with emergency service and government agencies, businesses, Traditional Owners and community groups.
Visiting flood impacted residents experiencing ongoing hardship.
Working with vulnerable residents on evacuation plans.
Supporting resilience and recovery community events including the Whole Loddon Love Baringhup.
Working with partners on the Resilience Retrofits Guide and Whole of Home Resilience project.
Partnering to develop a podcast series on the lived experience of flood impacted residents.
Promoting opportunities to support an enquiry into insurers’ responses to October 2022 flood claims.
Working with partners on emergency plan templates for the community.

This initiative is jointly funded by the Victorian and Australian Governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.

Other teams within Council continue to support improved flood resilience and recovery across the shire.
